- A "studio visit" is artspeak for an arranged visit to an artist's studio to view their artworks. In contrast to "open studios," where the artist's studio is open to the public, studio visits are generally private with dealers and or clients are typically present. The occasion of a studio visit is often to give first dibs to collectors. Studio visits are also generally understood to be a kind of interview and up-close look at work which has not been exhibited yet.
